Flag of the Illuminate Republic

The Illuminate Republic was the last iteration of the Illuminate state, having lasted from 309 to 518 and was the first fully democratic government of Avalon. It replaced the monarchical Illuminate. Today, the term "Illuminate" is often used to refer to the Solakkian Union instead.

Similar to previous iterations of the Illuminate rule, the republic laid claim to the entirety of Avalon’s surface and actively governed most of it. On top of this, it also held rule over an increasing number of other worlds in space following the start of The Expansion. Since the year 518, the Illuminate Republic has been replaced with the Avalon Alliance.

Government and Politics

Unlike the previous Illuminate, the Illuminate Republic is governed by a parliament of representatives on a 5-Season term selected by public vote. This form of government is also mirrored in the regional governances in the form of elected Regional Councils. Both parliament and Regional Councils are responsible for staffing courts and agencies on their respective levels of government, which form the judicial and executive branches of government.
