Avalonian Ascendancy

The Avalonian Ascendancy also known as the First Illuminate was a large state that at points controlled much of Avalon in early and middle history. The Ascendancy was an authoritarian, imperialistic empire that prioritized expansion, subjugation and a policy of resource extraction in conquered territories. It was the first state to achieve a semi-global status and at points directly controlled over 60% of the population. The Ascendancy maintained power in one form or another for one hundred years, before being overthrown by The Revolution in the year 0.

History

Background

As society grew and various city-states around Avalon began to take form, Those located nearest the equator sat at a distinct advantage due to the much milder climate and readily accessible resources. The Ascendancy itself was located within this rich belt, which helped propel their advancement to a significant degree.
